A thought-provoking look at women's roles in Performance Art

This book is amazing! Basically, it's a compilation of interviews of the most important female performing artists from the past couple of decades. Fascinating, stereotype-destroying, and informative.

An inspiring book!

I have been looking at this book again and again ever since finding it 3 years ago, each time gaining inspiration to be who I am with no appology. It and the women interviewed in it have inspired me greatly to push my own boundaries and explore society's taboos in a conscious way. I especially love the cover--an illustration of Medusa with pieces of culture's constructions in her snaky hair. Lots of photographs, which is a big plus!

Good book for those who don't read music

If you are new to guitar, and don't know how to read music, this book is for you. It is straightforward, and simple using the tablature method rather than standard music theory-which will give you a basic start on beginning to understand reading music and music theory later on if you choose. By taking some time doing the exercises, I was strumming away faster than I thought and have also learned that their are a number of music sheet books with tab measures which can let you go on beyond this book and play a lot of different forms of music. It is geared toward the absolute beginner, and is not overwhelming. I can say that it has helped me, but like anything else it does take practice.

Great Basic Teaching Guide

Dave Brewster has put together an easy to use guide for individual learning and small group instruction. The diagrams are easy to read and explain even in a bilingual English/Spanish situation. This book gives a thorough orientation to acoustic & electric guitars and teaches the basics for tuning, playing chords, strumming patterns and some notation reading. I appreciate the teaching of relative tuning for times when an electronic tuner is not available.
