This is an awesome and very helpful book, i've lost 15 pounds on my first 10 days of this journey I thank GOD for JJ Smith for coming up with this life changing book and i highly recommend it to everyone who what to live a healthy life.

What an amazing book!

What an amazing book!

Im not a believer of diets or drastic changes in you eating habits. That only means temporary change=body harm.

Im a 31 y/o. No kids. Married. With a 7:30-5:00 job. A 40 min commute. And a fitbit watch to try to achieve at least 8,000 steps a day. In other words, Im kinda normal.

I always was underweight. My ideal weight used to be 106-110. Im only 5ft. When I turned 26 my weight started to change due to bad eating habits. I went to 125, then 135 and finally 145. I started watching what I was eating about two years ago, but loosing that extra weight hasn't been easy.

As per my primary doc, my ideal weight for my height and age should be 115-125. I dont know how to achieve that!

I do not consume sugars/sweets because I simply dont like them. My weakness is beer and buffalo wings. I dont eat salty either, it became a habit after my dad got a heart surgery about ten years ago.

My breakfast is usually tea with crackers, for lunch I like soup, and dinner varies. But I think dinner is what kills me. For the most part I cook a typical Hispanic meal: rice, beans, and some sort of meat. But when I don't cook, hubby and I just order food (pizza or Chinese).

For about two years now, my weight hit the 130-135 mark. I have not been able to weight less than that.

I decided to give this book a try not to achieve my ideal weight, I gave up on that a while ago. But to cleanse my system which I think is something I truly need.

In just four days I already feel the difference: Im sleeping so much better. I have so much energy and somehow, Im always happy (Im like that famous grumpy cat, so a happy face is abnormal in my case haha).

Giving up meats is not a challenge (I was vegetarian for about three years, until I developed rashes and a weak inmune system). Im not that much into dairy. Fruits are the love of my life. I love bread, but I can survive without it; same with pasta. But the beer??? Oh my! I love my beer at night. Yet, I have not missed it. Im fine without it ;)

Weird craving Ive been having is salt. However, I love pickled veggies, so I guess thats where the craving comes from.

What makes this program easy is that you are not deprived from eating at all. If you feel hungry you get to eat any veggies or fruits of your choice. You also get to eat hard boiled eggs, which I never ate those many before in my life hahaha. They are filling and very nutricious. The book does not mention a limit on eggs. I did some research and an average of 4-6 a day is completely healthy. I'm having three a day. I also snack on fruits and veggies that are not part of the smoothy of the day, that way I do not loose motivation.

I am not doing the salt-water flush. Not my thing.! I will let my body do everything on its own. Im not adding sweetners either, but thats just because as I said before, I dont like sweets. Im drinking plenty of water which I always have, and a bought a variety of detox teas to switch flavors.

Lastly, pretty much all my ingredients are organic. Ive been buying organic for years now. And I am not adding any protein to my smoothies. I rather to get that protein from organic eggs.

I will update this post with more results. My experience is a good one. I completely suggest you try this program. The only side effect I experienced was a little rash by my lip. It went away in half hour and it happened on my first day. Another thing Im experiencing is something like hot-flashes hahaha... I just wake up sweating and with my body tempeture up. But I dont feel like is something bad. Maybe the sweat is the way my system is cleansing.

By the way, I decided to take pics everyday. I want to see the difference my self. No filters used, filters dont cheat others but yourself! And, I decided to use the same outfit when taking the pictures so that the results are hopefully, more visible.

Update

Hello everyone!

I am sorry for not updating this post earlier. Believe it or not, I couldnt figure out how to do it + Im a busy girl.

So, I uploaded all other pics.

Since a succesful end to my cleanse, I have continued with the modified version (2 smoothies and a HEALTHY meal).
My total loss was 10 pounds and I continue to be at 125. 125 is perfect in my case given my height and age. However, I am thinking about doing the cleanse again soon; not to lose weight, but to get rid of xmas/new yrs/vacation toxins :)

I have to admit that my eating habits completely changed. I continue to crave fruits and veggies on a daily basis. To me that is the most interesting part of all. I continue to indulge on buffalo wings and beer over the weekends and my results continue to be the same. By The way, on the weekends I rarely drink smoothies; I eat 2-3 meals and feel just fine. However, and once again, my meals are healthy. I kinda became a pesquetarian, all I eat is fish and lots of veggies.

On another note, I gave a try to three different things mentioned in the book: sea-salt water flush (I add a lime to it to make it easier to drink) and oh my if I recommend it, it makes me feel digestively clean :). I also bought Mag07 and wow! JJ Smith is right about those pills, is a great way to stay regular and help your digestive system stay healthy. Finally, I did the liver cleanse (8oz water and 2tbs apple cider vinegar) and my waist has gotten thinner.

I continue to go to the book all the time. I get recipes from there, and I just go back to her various tips.

Since, I bought another book with hundreds of green smoothie recipes. I like JJ Smith's recipes better because are less sweeter, but nonetheless, the other book helps me keep up with my routine too.

I developed a method: Once a month I get a shopping list ready. I separate all recipes on ziploc bags and freeze them. The night before I take them out and done! I waste no time making my daily dose of health.

I also bought a Ninja blender. Mine was a small one and I had to make a smoothie at a time (no time for that in the am). Im totally in love with my new blender because I make 2-3 cups of the same smoothie at once.

I continue to recommend the book. Im also very active in JJ Smith's twitter account because the program worked like a charm in my case. I love my new eating habits and how I feel in general, and thats all thanks to JJ Smith.

Last note: people constantly compliment me on my skin and hair, people do notice my weight loss, and people continue to talk about how cheerful I am most of the time which I find hillarious given how grumpy I am ha!

This book is amazing!! After 10 days I lost 12lbs. My hair and skin looked better. I was waking up earlier and with more energy throughout the day. I has lost all cravings for junk food. And I am an (or should say was) a junk food junkie. This book is a must have for anyone looking to jump start a healthier lifestyle. I am still doing the smoothies and I am still losing. Best $10 I have ever spent!!! And if you think I am a fake person I am the top pics on the before and after page!

About the Author

Shane Murphy, PhD, is one of the nation's leading sport psychologists, with expertise in performance excellence, competitiveness, and teamwork. He is currently assistant professor at Western Connecticut State University. Murphy served as a sport psychologist to the U.S. Olympic team at the 1988 Summer Games in Seoul, the U.S. Olympic team at the 1992 Winter Games in Albertville, and the 1996 U.S. slalom canoe and kayak teams in Atlanta. In addition, he was sport psychology consultant to the U.S. snowboard team from 1999 to 2002. For seven years he worked for the United States Olympic Committee (USOC) as head of its sport psychology department and later as the associate director of its sport science and technology division.

Murphy is a popular speaker and author of the best-selling book The Achievement Zone: An 8-Step Guide to Peak Performance in All Arenas of Life. He has appeared on many television and radio programs on ABC, CBS, MSNBC, CNN, and NPR. He also has had articles containing or referring to his work in USA Today, The Washington Post, The New York Times, Newsweek, and other major publications. He is a former president of the division of sport and exercise psychology of the American Psychological Association (APA) and is a fellow of the Association for the Advancement of Applied Sport Psychology (AAASP).

Murphy lives in Trumbull, Connecticut, with his wife, Annemarie, and two children, Bryan and Theresa.

ABOUT THE CONTRIBUTORS
John F. Eliot, PhD, is the director of sport psychology in the department of kinesiology at Rice University in Houston, Texas. His areas of specialization include performance enhancement, management consulting, and rehabilitation. Eliot has worked with a wide range of sports teams, including the Houston Astros, Philadelphia Eagles, San Antonio Spurs, and Chicago White Sox, along with numerous health care and business clients.

Chris Harwood, PhD, is a lecturer in applied sport psychology at Loughborough University, United Kingdom. He is a BASES-accredited and BOA- registered sport psychologist whose research focuses on achievement motivation in sport, social psychology of elite youth sport, and performance-enhancement interventions. Harwood has served as a consultant to the Nottingham Forest Soccer Club, Lawn Tennis Association, English Cricket Board, the Football Association, and the Youth Sport Trust, plus a variety of other national governing bodies in UK sport.

Cal Botterill, PhD, is a health and performance psychology professor at the University of Winnipeg, Canada. He has served as a consultant to seven Canadian Olympic teams, five NHL Hockey hockey teams—including the 1994 Stanley Cup champion the New York Rangers—and numerous corporations such as Coca-Cola and Great-West Life Assurance Company. Cal has authored hundreds of articles, books, videos, and international presentations.

Bruce D. Hale, PhD, is an associate professor of kinesiology at Penn State University, Berks-Lehigh Valley College in Reading, Pennsylvania. His areas of specialization include sport and exercise psychology and educational sport psychology. He is a fellow of the Association for the Advancement of Applied Sport Psychology (AAASP) and has been a performance-enhancement consultant to hundreds of college, professional, and elite national teams. Hale has worked with USA Wrestling, the British Biathlon, USRowing, TAC, and USA Rugby.

Mitch Abrams, PsyD, is president and founder of Learned Excellence for Athletes, a sport psychology consulting company; an adjunct faculty member of Fairleigh Dickinson University; and director of inpatient psychology at Northern State Prison in Newark, New Jersey. He specializes in developing programs for athletes to improve performance through emotion management. Abrams is a member of the American Psychological Association's (APA) division of exercise and sport psychology and the Association for the Advancement of Applied Sport Psychology (AAASP).

Jim Loehr, EdD, is chairman and CEO of LGE Performance Systems, a training company specializing in performance enhancement for professionals and athletes. He is a member of the American Psychological Association (APA), the Association for the Advancement of Applied Sport Psychology (AAASP), and the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM). Loehr has worked with a wide range of teams—the United States Tennis Association (USTA), Women's Tennis Association (WTA), International Tennis Federation (ITF), and Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA)—as well as professional athletes from the NBA, NFL, NHL, PGA, and LPGA, wrote 13 books, received numerous awards for his contributions in sport psychology, and contributes regularly to a wide variety of sports and business publications.

Tracy L. Veach, EdD, is a professor of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences and Internal Medicine at the University of Nevada School of Medicine. He works with individual athletes and teams in performance enhancement and integrative health. He has consulted with a wide range of athletes at high school, collegiate, and national team levels in football, basketball, swimming, track and field, and equestrian sports. Veach also served as a sport consultant to a world-record-setting U.S. sports parachute team.

Charles H. Brown, PhD, is director of FPS Performance, a Charlotte, North Carolina-based company specializing in performance enhancement of athletes, performing artists, and business professionals. He has worked with athletes at every level, specializing in the contextual factors that impact performance, athletes' relationships, and work-life balance of elite performers. Brown is a consultant certified by the Association for the Advancement of Applied Sport Psychology (AAASP), a member of the United States Olympic Committee (USOC) sport psychology registry, and a member of the National Register of Health Service Providers in Psychology.

Sean C. McCann, PhD, is the head of the United States Olympic Committee (USOC) sport psychology department. In 2003 he was appointed chairman of the division's Presidential Task Force to establish national standards for sport psychology training, education, and experience for sport psychologists.

Mark B. Andersen, PhD, is an associate professor at the School of Human Movement, Recreation, and Performance at Victoria University in Melbourne, Australia. He specializes in supervision, injury, exercise, quality of life, and chronic disease. Andersen has worked with athletes from a wide range of sports, including the Arizona State University Intercollegiate Athletics, Victorian Diving Association, and various other diving, swimming, track and field, wrestling, and golf teams. Andersen has been on the editorial boards of The Sport Psychologist, Journal of Applied Sport Psychology, and the Journal of Sport & Exercise Psychology.

David Tod is a PhD candidate at Victoria University in Melbourne, Australia, specializing in professional practice and performance enhancement. Tod has worked with the Northern Institute of the New Zealand Academy of Sport and with professional rugby unions and rugby league teams. She has traveled as part of the USOC sport psychology staff for three Olympic teams. Peterson is a licensed psychologist, a member of the American Psychological Association (APA), and is a certified consultant through the Association for the Advancement of Applied Sport Psychology (AAASP).

Jerry R. May, PhD, is a professor of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at the University of Nevada School of Medicine. He developed and implemented the first official sport psychology program for the United States Olympic Committee (USOC) and has worked with such teams as the U.S. Alpine ski team (1980-92), U.S. national soccer team (1997-98), and the U.S. sailing team (1992-present), and athletes in sports ranging from soccer, golf, tennis, and basketball to skiing, sailing, biathlon, and powerlifting.

Clark Perry, PhD, is senior consultant psychologist at the Australian Institute of Sport in Canberra and managing director of PST Systems, a performance enhancement and training company. He is a world leader in sport psychology, leadership, and team development, having worked closely with some of the world's best athletes as a member of four Olympic Games, three Commonwealth Games, eight World Championships, five Pan Pacific Swimming Championships, and three Super 12 Rugby Finals. Gloria Balague, PhD, directs the sport psychology services at the University of Illinois at Chicago Sports Medicine Center and Human Performance Lab. Balague is a member of the executive committee and president of the sport psychology division of the International Association of Applied Psychology.

Charles J. Hardy, PhD, is the acting dean of the Jack N. Averitt College of Graduate Studies and a professor in the Juann-Ping Hsu School of Public Health at Georgia Southern University. He is a past president of the Association for the Advancement of Applied Sport Psychology (AAASP). His primary area of research has been in social influence processes in exercise and sport. Karen D. Cogan, PhD, is a psychologist and assistant professor at the University of North Texas (UNT). Kevin L. Burke, PhD, is an associate professor in the Jiann-Ping Hsu School of Public Health at Georgia Southern University. He has also coauthored Sport Psychology Library: Basketball and Tennis and actively served on numerous editorial boards for journals and research committees within the field.

R. Kelly Crace, PhD, is director of the counseling center and adjunct associate professor in psychology at the College of William & Mary. An important item to your AX toolbelt

When dealing with performance issues you have to understand in depth how all the components in a solution work by themselves and in collaboration with the specific other components of the solution. You also need to master several different toolboxes to measure performance of the various components. Few people master all these components and tools in depth.

This book is a collection of information you need to be able to prevent and to troubleshoot and fix performance issues with a Microsoft Dynamics AX 2009 and 2012 solution and the components that make up the total solution. The authors have described each topic in an easy and understandable style. You can read it with the purpose of learning more about performance with Microsoft Dynamics AX solutions and you can use it later on as a reference guide.

Experienced, or somewhat experienced, Microsoft Dynamics AX technical consultants are the main audience of the book.

The book covers a lot of ground and it cannot stand alone as a single educational tool for all the described tools and components. You can for example find information much more detailed other places about Microsoft AX development for performance. However, that would make the book ten times thicker. With the books focus on the, for Microsoft Dynamics AX solutions, important things, the book works. I could make the bold statement that you could consider the book to be a kind of a Maggi cube for the information you need about all the different components that make up the Microsoft Dynamics AX performance experience.

I will definitely recommend the book. The investment in the book will quickly pay off if you are a technical consultant working with performance issues in relation to Microsoft Dynamics AX.

A must have for experienced implementers or administrators

This is a very technical book, and is not targeted to a beginning administrator. This is a very good deep dive book, where an understanding of the deep bowels of Ax can be found.

This book covers a lot of ground and is very densely packed. It does a good job of calling out which SQL DMVs should be watched, and addresses good practices that I generally agree with. I would recommend this book be read by anyone who wants to get the most out of their system, or understand why the system is performing poorly.

Dissappointed in ordering this book

This book doesn't at all address performance optimization. They basically recited public knowledge off Microsoft's website and public blogs. In the preface, they claim the information contained to be real-world knowledge but it's not. I read the book from front to back and was unable to find a single useful suggestion that addressed real-world performance issues encountered. The out of the box installation of Dynamics AX includes all the suggestions shown in this book.

The font-size is blown way up as filler text along with many many useless pictures. No publication/copyright/publisher information. Not to mention, majority of the reviews on Amazon for this book were written a week after the book was listed.

About the Author
Shinzen Young
Shinzen Young became fascinated with Asian culture while a teenager in Los Angeles. Later he enrolled in a PhD program in Buddhist Studies at the University of Wisconsin. Eventually, he went to Asia and did extensive training in each of the three major Buddhist traditions: Vajrayana, Zen and Vipassana. Upon returning to the United States, his academic interests shifted to the burgeoning dialogue between Eastern meditation and Western science. Shinzen is known for his innovative “interactive, algorithmic approach” to mindfulness, a system specifically designed for use in pain management, recovery support, and as an adjunct to psychotherapy. He leads meditation retreats throughout North America and has helped establish numerous mindfulness centers and programs. He also consults widely on meditation-related research, in both the clinical and the basic science domains. He often says: “My life’s passion lies in exploring what may arise from the cross-fertilization of the best of the East with the best of the West.”

A Coherent Framework

For most of human history, a person who wanted to learn to meditate had one teacher who taught a single, unified approach, with a coherent set of practices and terminology. An American in the 21st century, however, faces a bewilderingly diverse array of traditions, each of which has its own practices and special terms. To complicate things further, many of these traditions use the *same* terms to mean different things and the same practices aimed at different goals.

Faced with this Tower of Babel, it's easy to superficially jump from one approach to another, not sticking with any practice long enough to make any meaningful progress. It's also easy to respond to this confusion by throwing one's hands in the air and simply giving up.

The value of this book is that it gives one a coherent mental framework with which understand all the world's meditation practices. This is the sense in which we can say the author presents a "science." Just as the scientific classification of animals equips a biologist to make sense of a newly-discovered species, this "scientific" classification of meditation practices equips one to make sense of the bewildering array of meditation practices they are likely to encounter in the modern "marketplace" of spiritual ideas.

The book has much to offer in addition to this, but this is the biggest payoff for a new reader in my opinion.

Well organized and beautifully written. I lived as a harsh cynic for many years of my life, especially when it came to religious and spiritual practice. When I first heard "Science of Enlightenment" in its audio form, a switch went off in my head. I guess Shinzen used exactly the language that I needed to hear to move me away from a cynical framework of thinking and into practical way of training. There were certain things that he said, that when I heard them, I felt like a small part of me had experienced them somewhere before. The way you guys organized this book is fantastic. I see it as a perfect motivation for beginning practitioners. It lays out the reasons in a way that are practical and not religiously dogmatic. It gives a broad perspective on contemplative practice that is inclusive of a huge range of traditions. These were things that I really needed to hear to get me motivated to practice. I'm really grateful.

A logical approach to meditative practice

I enjoyed the practical and logical approach taken by Shinzen Young. He offers clear explanations of Eastern philosophical concepts that are often confusing or misleading. His advice gave my practice a boost and a greater sense of purpose. The closing chapter of the book give his hope and dream that someday, meditation will be taught from a rationally based, quasi-scientific point of view. Thus, it would be easily and perhaps more efficiently learned. In the meantime, his book serves as a very good guide to develop and deepen one's meditative practice. His writing is clear and very readable.

Dear Soul is my journey journal written in conversationalist tone, a very intimate, introspective style of poetry, and it shows the twisted romantic observations of the world, which we have all seen. This book connects to every human because it is based on finding love after pain. Pain is something that is common to each of our stories. Let’s be honest—how many of us are still suffering from incidents from our childhood? When we struggle in life, the problem is not the problem. The problem is not having adequate solutions or resources to really move forward from the stresses. Dear Soul is the ultimate book to help you take an introspective look inside to uncover a deeper connection with self and a deeper scope for possible solutions for any type of pain. As a writer, my style has been dubbed “visionary poetry,” and my purpose is to combine observations, poetry, and persuasive logic. My only goal is to cause an intense amount of thought or reflection inside of each reader. I do not put my words together to be “right.” Right and wrong are relative and based on a person’s perception and experience. The user who will get the most from this book is one who will relate to the topics that are relevant to his or her personal growth. The other user is someone who will step outside of his or her bubble and understand another’s struggle. Once you can holistically understand another person’s struggle, then you have activated empathy, and I believe that empathy is the most important quality missing from our culture. Once you have a culture of people who understand each other, are comfortable with self, and able to communicate effectively, then you raise the vibration of the entire world with that energy. We sit inside of our bubbles and internalize the pain of everything that happens to us, but we don’t align with our struggles or successes. I am genuinely happy when I see people succeed at something they’ve worked for. I am able to share the joy as if it were my own accomplishment. I am able to feel the pain of a woman who doesn’t feel comfortable walking down the street at night alone. No, I have never been a woman, but I have listened to those stories and tried to put myself there. Let’s just be honest. This generation does not talk about sex, race, or pain from our childhood. We ignore those topics and we ignore self-love. I never heard the word self-love when I was growing up. As a child, I also didn’t hear the word love much. I went on several spiritual journeys in my early twenties to discover the deepest version of self. What I present to you here is a continuation of the journey. I am happy, I am healed, and I am as healthy as I can be. Today, I am sharing a spiritual, emotional, and health journey with you inside of these lines.

If you are not ready to be honest and open then you are not ready for this guide to your soul. It's the book that you will go back to through the good and bad days. It's truly the top self help book there is.

'A meticulous look at the complex "cult of personality" built around the Soviet dictator during his three decades of power. Making comparisons with other dictators, and even some democratic leaders. Plamper strongly argues that the Stalin cult was perhaps the most well-crafted and most carefully managed in history. For example, the promotion of Stalin's image varied depending upon the degree to he wished to hog or share credit for political, economic, and military developments. Plamper often plunges into quite interesting detail, such as variations in Stalin's apparent age in portraits or propaganda posters, changes in his clothing, and, in a trait he shared with fellow-dictator Hitler, the wearing of just a single medal. A carefully researched, well reasoned, often chilling, and occasionally amusing, look at the iconography of power that throws much light on the man and his regime.'
