If you can get past the mistakes . . .

Make no mistake, this is a great textbook! I had the privilege of taking this class with one of the authors, Dr. Lake.

This textbook has a very logical layout, and is easy to understand. The authors took great pains to make sure the reader understands the terminology and abbreviations used not just in the book, but in industry as well. The example problems after each chapter are also very helpful. While I didn't have the answers to these problems, I found that they definitely helped focus my studying! There are also many charts, graphs, and diagrams, that you will find very helpful to your understanding of reservoir characterization and behavior.

DOWNSIDE: My biggest issue with this book is the shear amount of typos and mistakes! Absolutely ridiculous! I was able to get the errata(8 pages!) from my professor, and went in and hand-corrected the book myself. I don't know why they didn't just update the book themselves! Surely it can't be that much effort!?

Bottom-line, I will not be selling this book back! I already know it will be an invaluable resource as I make my way from school into the O&G industry!

Excellent reference. You need no other book for the gym. However, the quality of this hardback book is dismal. I've only had it 4 months and have had to tape pages which were coming loose from the binding. Tonight (9/25/2016), I opened the book and the entire spine had come loose--and I only use the book occasionally for reference. Not sure if I got a dud or what, but it is too late to return it. See pic.

An Adjunct Professor of Travel at West Los Angeles College, Dr. Mancini was named Educator of the Year by the International Society of Travel and Tourism Educators, and in 2010 received ASTA's Diamond Award. His consulting clients include American Express, Marriott, CLIA, Holland America, AAA, Norwegian Cruise Line, Lufthansa, and the Hawaiian Visitors and Convention Bureau. Dr. Mancini holds a BA degree from Providence College, and an MA, MS, and PhD from the University of Southern California.

Long time traveler, New travel student

I recently enrolled in a series of travel courses through a community college. The first/introductory class required this textbook. It's not a book I would have just picked up, but I found the entire text thoroughly enjoyable. The chapters are quite informative even for veteran travelers. For new, or potential, travel students they provide an excellent overview of various segments of the travel industry. It's easy reading and Mr. Mancini throws in the odd, funny comment here and there. I looked forward to picking it up every day.

WOW, I love the layout, so will you...

I've been in the travel industry since 1996, and in order to keep my competitive edge it requires me to stay on top of the ever changing trends. It is easy to do with Dr. Mancini's textbooks and training DVDs. But, when I opened this book (ACCESS, Introduction to Travel and Tourism) I actually said "WOW". I was very pleased with the layout, font size, contents of the book and the color selection used in highlighting the "Insider Tips". Yes, you can put your highlighter pen down because it's done for you. Like its author (Dr. Mancini) this book is filled will real-life travel experiences and it's a fun and easy read. Pick it up and compare it to other ordinary travel textbooks -- and you'll find there's no comparison!

I chose this book because it was recommended by the Travel Company I work for. It was suggested that this book would help me in my training.

I have found this to be the case. The book has been very helpful to me so far. I expect that I will be using it for some time to come.

I would recommend this book to anyone who is interested in becoming a travel agent.

Robert Dilts has been an author, developer and consultant in the field of Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) since its creation in 1975. He is recognized internationally as one of the foremost trainers and practitioners of NLP. Tim Hallbom co-founded Western States Training Associates in 1981. He has provided practical, skill-based training to individuals, businesses and government organizations throughout the United States, Europe and Latin America. Very interesting and useful to go back and see Dilts' skill and thoughtfulness

I did some NLP training in the past, but lately been more focussed on EFT. Very interesting and useful to go back and see Dilts' skill and thoughtfulness. Some of the processes are complex, but the complexity is described in very clearly defined parts that work in practice. This isn't a simple "imagine and it will all come true" self-help book, but a guide to becoming more aware of belief/emotion tangles in ways that let them be resolved. Excellent for counselors, and if you're willing to spend a little time exploring your own thoughts, feelings & imagination, you can certainly work with these processes.
