About the Author
Marc Mancini is one of the travel industry's best-known speakers, educators, and consultants. His writing and video production credits include 12 books, 32 videos, dozens of training websites, and more than 300 articles, with some syndicated by the Los Angeles Times. He has appeared on CNN, ABC's Good Morning America, and Showtime. An Adjunct Professor of Travel at West Los Angeles College, Dr. Mancini was named Educator of the Year by the International Society of Travel and Tourism Educators, and in 2010 received ASTA's Diamond Award. His consulting clients include American Express, Marriott, CLIA, Holland America, AAA, Norwegian Cruise Line, Lufthansa, and the Hawaiian Visitors and Convention Bureau. Dr. Mancini holds a BA degree from Providence College, and an MA, MS, and PhD from the University of Southern California.

Long time traveler, New travel student

I recently enrolled in a series of travel courses through a community college. The first/introductory class required this textbook. It's not a book I would have just picked up, but I found the entire text thoroughly enjoyable. The chapters are quite informative even for veteran travelers. For new, or potential, travel students they provide an excellent overview of various segments of the travel industry. It's easy reading and Mr. Mancini throws in the odd, funny comment here and there. I looked forward to picking it up every day.

WOW, I love the layout, so will you...

I've been in the travel industry since 1996, and in order to keep my competitive edge it requires me to stay on top of the ever changing trends. It is easy to do with Dr. Mancini's textbooks and training DVDs. But, when I opened this book (ACCESS, Introduction to Travel and Tourism) I actually said "WOW". I was very pleased with the layout, font size, contents of the book and the color selection used in highlighting the "Insider Tips". Yes, you can put your highlighter pen down because it's done for you. Like its author (Dr. Mancini) this book is filled will real-life travel experiences and it's a fun and easy read. Pick it up and compare it to other ordinary travel textbooks -- and you'll find there's no comparison!

I chose this book because it was recommended by the Travel Company I work for. It was suggested that this book would help me in my training.
I have found this to be the case. The book has been very helpful to me so far. I expect that I will be using it for some time to come.
I would recommend this book to anyone who is interested in becoming a travel agent.
